devin

Identity

  • Names: ai.cognition.devin; short alias devin.
  • Native format: devin-cli-sessions-sqlite, session message forests and side-state tables.
  • Session ID: sessions.id. Human-readable IDs are not proven globally unique; require a stable installation/profile namespace. node_id is unique only inside the session.
  • Compaction: Row metadata summarized_from marks a continuation summary. Preserve a non-null parent_node_id; use summarized_from as logical parent only when native parent is empty. Exact history reinsertion is unqualified, so retain the old forest and unknown replacement range. compact/prior_node_ids is not proof of copies.

Position basis

Use only positions established by the stated format and mapping evidence. Current-state rows without transcript positions form the snapshot tail. A protocol commit boundary takes precedence over physical EOF; uncommitted bytes are not a gap.

Destinations

devin: native facts without a standard field

  • Tree and links: Fixture schema 17 uses parent_node_id, response key chat_message.metadata.request_id, injected marker is_system_prefix, and primary sessions.main_chain_id. A result inherits response identity only through a unique tool_call_id join. Apply the mechanical-sibling off-path check before exceptions. Foreground extensions["subagent/chain_node_id"] identifies another same-session head; it is not a child session. The stored subagent_heads.chain_node_id remains a lead until its writer contract is qualified.
  • Lineage and order: No inter-session parent, child, copy or root mapping is qualified. Serialize message nodes by node_id, then ordered prompt/commit side logs, then mutable state. Missing/null primary heads do not authorize inventing a path. Message-native time takes precedence; row created_at is second-precision container time.

Usage

  • Inference and tools: Only a uniquely owned request_id supports an inference and its native metrics. Repeated IDs keep accounting native. Configuration does not prove served model. ACP tool_call_state snapshots revise a call/result only through its explicit unique call key; otherwise retain vendor state. Diff text is snippet precision unless whole-file scope is proved. Numeric signals remain raw.

Lane and unassigned facts

Facts without established session ownership use manifest _meta["ai.cognition.devin/unassigned"] with the common shape. Selection may retain these facts with any session subset, including an empty subset, but must not imply session ownership. State the selection policy in the export report.

Losses

Declare every applicable loss under ASR-157. Missing model rendering, accounting joins, lineage or exact context boundaries remain losses when this entry does not qualify them. Unknown ownership is not itself lost data. Omitted unassigned facts use a documented vendor loss or report, not a new core category.

Evidence

Basis: fixture-verified: sanitized schema-17 sessions from CLI 3000.4.25 and 3000.6.14, migrated by 3000.10.21, and forest-planner tests in ctxrs/ctx at 74f63227f1c7416607d704668f38b9c7c9de6a16. Tests of stored subagent heads are authored. No proprietary version-level conformance claim. Evidence applies only to the named formats and explicit mappings above. A real capture covers only exercised behavior. A writer probe run without a model covers persistence, not model or tool execution. Authored tests do not qualify an agent version. Unlisted formats and link mappings remain unqualified.
